Devotion to Mary Help of Christians

At age 9, Don Bosco began to have dreams of Our Lady, who became a guide and a mentor to him throughout his life. He saw Mary as the ever-present Mother, who looked after the needs of her children, heard their prayers, and was there to aid them in their journey to heaven. Above all, it was through her intercession that he was able to undertake so much. In fact, at the end of his life when praised for all that he had done, he tearfully replied that it was through her intercession that all was possible. When founding the Salesian Sisters’ Congregation, Don Bosco chose the title Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. He wanted the Institute  to be a living monument of gratitude to Our Lady who had accomplished all.
